WIOA Touch Base | NAEPB-ACB

I am forwarding Clark’s email to you because there is a one page attachment with the language that NIB is proposing as an amendment to the Rehab Act.  They are asking us to comment on what ACB’s response should be.  Please respond to this list with any comments or suggestions.
Thanks,

Doug

Doug and Chris, I will not be on the Rehab call tonight, but I wanted to share the following two items with you:
1 – NIB and NAEPB (their agencies) have a consultant, Thornrun Partners. Thornrun and I connected this week to discuss a proposal to require state VR agencies to inform people with disabilities about employment opportunities at AbilityOne agencies, and to then honor their informed choice to make a referral if the individual requests to pursue employment at an AbilityOne agency. Please share your thoughts to whether ACB should support this approach.
2 – Dan and I connected regarding the training centers resolution. Dan and I would like to find a time to connect with the two of you to discuss implementation of this resolution. I will reach out in this regard in the coming week.
Thanks,
Clark

Well, historically we have always supported the programs. So, I do not see why we should not.
I’ll beat the dead horse if the independent living centers can be considered competitive why can’t ability One be offered as an option. After all, they certainly are employing many people, paying good wages, good benefits, and allowing people to contribute to society.
