updated vaccination site

Hi everyone,

I just went on to www.vaxfinder.mass.gov.  JAWS users, that is vax, with x as in xray.   It is considerably better than the original site!  I was able to put in my zip code and search, and then several listings came up.  I clicked on a supermarket near me and was brought directly to the information.  I did not try to schedule anything as yet, as I am not in the current grouping.  I do feel encouraged by the new accessibility of the site.  Has anyone else played around with it and actually booked an appointment via the site?  Thanks.

Yes, the grocery stores (like Price Chopper) are allowing people to sign up after registering on their site. I did that as well but then couldn't get an appt bec I'm not yet in the right group. This will happen for all sites that are certified by the state, even the CVS and Walgreens sites. But once you register, it'll be easier to get right to the place where you can sign up for the vaccine once you're in the right phase of the right group. They all have the current restrictions in terms of who can be vaccinated.

After the MCB SAB mtg last Friday with a number of 'us' from the public attending, I went onto the state's site about having someone younger accompany someone older than 75 years who can then also get their vaccine even if not yet in the 'at risk' category. However, there are now a # of people who are putting out calls on Craig's List that they'll drive someone to a site in order that they, too, can be vaccinated, but many of them are charging a fee to come pick you up and drive you back home (some as much as $200). So be careful about someone offering you a ride if it's not someone you know!

Good advice, Judy, as this is an opportunity for people to scam those who are desperate to get the vaccine.
