Sweet Home Alabama

David Trott

It is time to get up and get moving to the ACB annual walk. Our walk team this year is “Sweet Home Alabama.”  You can register for the walk through the link below or on the registration form. If you use the registration form please tell the staff when they call that you want your walk money to go to our team. This is a good fundraiser for ACB and with your participation it can be a good fundraiser for ALCB as well. Our goal this year is $1000 and with your help we can exceed our goal. If you would like more information please contact Rhonda Trott, rhondatrott@... of call 256-493-9137.

Please share.

Thank you in advance,

David

Library Without Walls Call !

David Trott

This is a final reminder of Library Without Walls. On May 19 2021 at 8:30 PM Eastern Daylight Time we will hold our next meeting! Library Users of America is a special interest affiliate of the American Council of the Blind interested in all things library and how well libraries meet the needs of people who are blind or have low vision. One of our activities is Library Without Walls where we choose a topic and ask folks to identify two books that meet the criteria we choose for each month!
This time choosing a book is pretty easy! Each of us is supposed to choose two "southern books". As long as your book primarily takes place in the South or you can find a way to convince us that your book has sufficient "southern" components that are sufficient to justify make it a part of this category. I will not and cannot be as arbitrary as I was last Library Without Walls. It should be easy for all of us to come up with "southern" books. They can be fiction or nonfiction! You can choose short stories, articles, essays or novels. You can choose autobiographies, memoirs, biographies or nonfiction about an element of the South.
We will be using ZOOM MEETING for this event. The ID for the meeting is 526727187 and we now will use a new password which is 582582 or "lualua". You can use this id if you already have Zoom installed on your phone. Open Zoom, go to join meeting and then input the nine digit code. You will then be asked for the password. Usually, you will be asked to connect using internet audio. You can use either your mobile or your land line phone to call into Zoom as well. This is just like calling an old style conference call. You dial the number and then wait till you are asked for a code and then enter the nine digit code. After that, you will have to enter the password. There are two numbers, one in New York and one in California. It is not clear to me which is the right one for you to use so try one and if, for some reason, it doesn't work, try the other. The San Jose number is (669) 900-6833 with the same code 526727187 and password 582582. The New York number is (929) 205-6099 and the usual code 526727187 and the usual password 582582. If you have Zoom on your computer you can join by going to
https://zoom.us/j/526727187. THIS will get you to the place where you will need to enter your password 582582. we look forward to having lots of you join us when we talk about "southern" books on May 19th at 8:30 PM.
We will not meet in July because our meeting will fall in the middle of our ACB convention! Our September meeting is interesting in that it asks you to pick your favorite fiction and your favorite nonfiction book of all time! That should be an amazing evening!
See you on May 19 at 8:30 PM.
