Lion President Ray:

Anyone and everyone needs to sign on to this letter. Believe it or not, there still are seniors who don’t have internet access and they will need to jump through Social Security hoops to continue receiving their information.

Subject: [ACBL-Board] FW: [Presidents] Letter to SSA re: Alternative Formats, Sign Ons Requested by COB, Friday, 7/30

Hello Lions:

The below request and attached letter is from ACB.  We are being asked to sign onto a letter to the Social Security Administration (SSA) urging them to rescind the policy change they are proposing to implement on August 14.  In summary, if you or anyone else signed up to receive notices from SSA in alternate formats, you’ll lose the option to receive the notices in the format you’ve requested starting August 14, and you’ll receive notices online unless you create a My Social Security account and explicitly opt in to continuing to receive notices in the format you currently receive them in.

Unless I hear strong objections, I’m going to sign ACB Lions on as a sign-on organization to this letter.  I need to have this in by end of day July 30.  If you have a strong objection to us signing onto this letter, please speak before then!

Thanks,

Hi All,

ACB, NDRN, and Justice in Aging have drafted the attached letter regarding the change in alternative format availability going into effect at the Social Security Administration on August 14. If your organization or affiliate would like to sign on (please no individual signatories), please email Swatha Nandhakumar, ACB, and Claire Stanley, NDRN, by COB this Friday, July 30.

Thank You,
