Conference Call - Is This O and M Program Right for You

From: Carla Ruschival <carla40206@...> Date: March 23, 2020 at 9:48:08 AM EDT To: Leadership@... Subject: Conference Call - Is This O and M Program Right for You
It is sometimes difficult to obtain O and M instruction through our vocational rehabilitation services due to a shortage of instructors and other reasons.
Leader Dogs in Rochester, Michigan, offers an orientation and mobility program that can help solve this problem, and you don't have to be a guide dog user or even want to become a guide dog user to participate.
Guide Dog Users of Kentuckiana (GDuKI) invites you to participate in our conference call this evening (Monday) to learn more bout this Leader Dog program. The call is at 7:00 PM Eastern (4:00 Pacific and 1:00 Hawaiian), and the dial-in number is 605-475-6006 and the code is 294444.
Please be prepared to mute your phone when asked to do so. Even a very small amount of background noise can be very distracting, and is inconsiderate of others on the call.
All are welcome.

The Illinois
State government in USA on Friday announced a stay-at-home
order starting at 5 p.m. Saturday through at least April 7, marking Illinois’ most
aggressive step yet to try to slow the spread of the coronavirus. The
measures included the requirement to cease all non-essential services in
the state. Lions Clubs International is identified as non-essential. To
comply with the state mandate, the Lions Clubs International Headquarters
in Oak Brook will be closed at least until April 7, 2020.
While staff will not physically be in
the building, staff teams will be working remotely and available during
business hours to respond to the needs of Lions. You may contact LCI
staff or LCIF staff
as needed.
Performance of systems may be impacted
due to the increased number of people working remotely, and response time
may be affected. Some of our business operations that require physical
interaction will likely be limited.
More details will be provided early next
week, but here is some preliminary guidance:
·
For
information on district and multiple district conventions, please check
our coronavirus
updates webpage after March 24, 2020.
·
Regarding
payment of outstanding dues, we recommend that districts allow clubs that
are able to demonstrate they have sent or submitted payment to
participate in voting. This could be via a bank statement, copy of demand
draft, etc. Clubs will not be cancelled during this time, based on the
challenges related to receiving and processing physical cheques and
electronic payments.
·
For
LCI payments, please utilize online payment options via MyLCI or any
other electronic payment method (ACH, SEPA, Boleto, NEFT, etc.) instead
of sending checks to the office.
·
Please
submit LCIF
donations via the website instead of sending checks to the
office. Please also note that grant disbursements and recognition will be
delayed while the office is closed.
·
There
will be delays in shipping LCI awards and recognitions, club supplies
orders, as well as delays in processing reimbursements.
We appreciate your patience during these
extraordinary times and wish for the health and safety of all our Lions
and staff around the world.
In kindness,
PIP Frank Moore
Executive Administrator and Secretary

From: Carla Ruschival <carla40206@...> Date: March 10, 2020 at 6:09:38 AM EDT To: Leadership@... Subject: do it all with one call
Become a member now of ACB Lions, ACB Families, and/or the Library Users of America; you can do it all with just one call.
ACB Lions holds a conference call on the first Thursday of each month, and it is an opportunity to share ways we can be involved in our local Lions Clubs. ACB Lions helps sponsor travel for ACB scholarship winners, and we hold a lunch and a mixer at each ACB national Conference and Convention. Dues are $15 a year or $150 for a life membership.
ACB Families holds a support call on the first Sunday of each month and a business meeting on the third Sunday of the month. Our support calls feature interesting discussions, sometimes a speaker. Families will hold three activities at this year's ACB convention - a campfire sing, a Bingo, and a breakfast and program. Dues are just $8.00 a year.
The Library Users of America sponsors "Library without Walls", a bimonthly conference call that gives us a chance to share book recommendations on a specific topic. "The LUA Ledger" is published two or three times a year, and LUA presents quality programming at the ACB national convention. Dues are $12.00 a year or $150 for a life membership. LUA also has three chapters - California, Kentucky and Texas.
For more information or to pay dues for ACB Lions, ACB Families, and Library Users of America, call 502-897-1472. You will be glad you became a part of these growing and active ACB special-interest affiliates.

Become part of the affiliate that roars
There's still time to join the American Council of Blind Lions and be part of the affiliate that roars.
ACBL gives Lions across the country who are blind and visually impaired a chance to share ideas and experiences. ACBL encourages people with low vision to become Lions and participate in service projects in their local clubs and communities.
ACBL holds informative telephone conference call meetings on the first Thursday of each month at 9:00 PM Eastern Time (6:00 PM Pacific). Approximately 20 people from across the country join the call each month to discuss issues of importance to Lions, and there is always time to ask questions and share ideas and ways we participate in our local clubs. The conference call number is 712-432-3900, and the call code is 796096.
In 2020, ACBL will again support the American Council of the Blind scholarship program. As a sponsor, ACBL will assist outstanding students to attend the 59th ACB National Conference and Convention in Schaumburg, IL where they can learn about our outstanding organization, connect with others in their chosen fields of study, and discover the many opportunities available to them as they seek to become successful members of society. Support for this project comes from contributions from local clubs, from individual Lions, and from the ACBL treasury.
ACBL will once again host our lunch, program and meeting and our Milly's Place Mixer at the ACB convention. More details will be available on our monthly conference calls and in the convention pre-registration.
If you are already a Lion, have been a Lion in the past, or would like to become a Lion, you are invited to be part of ACBL. Membership is open to people who are blind, visually impaired or sighted. One-year membership is just $15.00; life membership is $150.00.
Whether you are new to ACBL, or you need to renew your membership for 2020, take a few minutes now to become part of ACB Lions; it's quick and easy. Pay dues by phone with your credit card by calling 502-897-1472, or go to www.paypal.com and send money to lions.acb@.... Or you may choose to make a check payable to ACB Lions and mail to:
American Council of Blind Lions Adam Ruschival, Treasurer 148 Vernon Avenue Louisville, KY 40206
Reminder: Please be sure to include your name, address, phone and e-mail address with your dues payment.
Thank you in advance for joining ACB Lions.

Meeting tonight - reminder

Lions Headquarters Tour Update
Hello Lions: I won’t be able to attend this evening’s conference call since the Multicultural Affairs Committee for ACB is meeting at that same time and I’m the Officer Liaison for that committee. I’ve talked with Janet and turned over the organizing of the Lions International Headquarters tour to her and Rhonda so they can line up all of the logistics, including lunch. I will still be involved as the tour gets closer, helping to recruit local Lions members as needed to serve as volunteer guides for the tour. Watch your email for daily virtual auction updates containing items up for bid, current high bids, and reminders about items ready to close.
Bidding in the auction is fun, but placing a bid is serious business. It is a commitment on your part to pay for that item, should you be the winner. All items are sold as is, and all sales are final. Payment is due after the item closes, and must be made by credit card using VISA, MasterCard, Discover or American Express; no checks accepted.
When an item closes, the ACB Minneapolis office will contact the winner to obtain credit card information. If a winner defaults on a bid, the runner-up will be contacted concerning the item.
Shipping on most items are the responsibility of the buyer, and will be charged as a separate item on your card. If you purchase multiple items, shipping will be combined whenever possible. Sorry, but we cannot offer international shipping.
Now place those bids, and thanks for supporting the ACB Virtual Holiday Auction.
